The current global recession has hit almost every industry and Bollywood has not been any exception. Films are being shelved and put on hold due to the credit crunch. Big B's Kunal too is learnt to be facing the
heat.
Speaking to us, the film's director, Dr.Chandraprakash Dwivedi however states, "The recession is affecting everyone so it is natural that it is affecting the film industry. When such problems arise, we have to make sure
that we are secure in money matters. The film requires a lot of work as its budget is approximately 30 to 40 crores."
The film revolves around the strange and loving relationship shared by King Ashoka (Amitabh Bachchan) and his son Veera Kunal (Arjun Rampal). Set in 240 BC, the film begins with the emperor converting to
Buddhism.
Another subplot of the movie is Ashoka's fifth wife Pishyarakshita's (Tabu) sexual attraction towards her stepson Veera, who is married to Kanchanmala (Amrita Rao). Shooting is supposed to take
place at Filmcity and in northern parts of India.
